William R. Richardson, Jr.

Captain Richardson has been with the Department of Public Safety since 1980 when he was hired as a firefighter/dispatcher. In 1993 he was promoted to Headquarters Sergeant where he was responsible for the scheduling of the E-911 dispatchers and the paid firefighters. Captain Richardson was promoted to Lieutenant in 1998 and Captain in 2001 and his duties grew as well. He is certified as a Fire Officer I through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs and is also a certified VCIN operator. He ensures the E-911 Communications Center operates effectively on a daily basis, and that the fire apparatus and equipment is ready to respond to emergencies. He supervises 6 dispatchers and 6 fire engineers.
